With Fox being bought out by Disney in 2018, the rights to the Marvel franchise went to Disney. At the time, Marvel still had shows like Luke Cage, Daredevil, and the Punisher among others streaming on Netflix. Disney had only just announced at the time that they were going to start a streaming service of their own (Disney+), and it’s unclear whether or not this announcement triggered Netflix to pull the plug on the Marvel series shows.

Regardless of why Netflix pulled the plug, Marvel was not expecting it, or at least not expecting it so soon. Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb had this to say.

“The hardest part was while the situation at Netflix, which I really can’t go into other than to say that we were blindsided and the things that were to come weren’t finished yet. We weren’t ready to announce that, so there was this space in between it, so it did look like maybe we were going to go out. Then suddenly, we were arising again like the Phoenix.”

The Marvel shows will land back on Disney+ when it drops this November, however it doesn’t seem like they’re thrilled about how it all ended with the streaming giant Netflix.

As the streaming service world is starting to get a little more crowded with the likes of Disney+ joining Netflix and Amazon in the market, Apple is also getting into the space with their own service Apple TV+.

Headline names should equate to more viewers, or at least that is the stance Apple is taking. The streaming service has not been released yet and details are still unclear, however it appears one of their first big programs will be called “The Morning Show”. Featuring actors such as Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, and Steve Carell, the upcoming series will try and give a behind the scenes look at the world of major news television shows in a fictional dramedy.

Steve Carell is no stranger to working a newsroom as he found himself acting in one during Bruce Almighty and Anchorman films. There is a teaser out for “The Morning Show” that can be found here. Check it out and let us know your thoughts on the new show coming to Apple+ this fall. The series has already been picked up for two seasons and the first will feature 10 episodes.

Yes, we are a few months away from Halloween, but that doesn’t mean it is not a good time for a scary movie. As you try to survive the summer heat, or look for something to watch during one of those summer thunderstorms, Hulu has a bunch of scary drama movie options streaming right now that are perfect for date night, or if you’re just trying to raise the heart rate a little. The 2019-2020 Premier League campaign got underway this past Friday in Liverpool as the Mercy-siders walloped newly promoted Norwich City at Anfield. It kickstarted a slate of opening weekend games as the PL returned with new teams, new players, new homes, and for the first time ever, VAR.

The big guns got off to a great start to the campaign with Man City, Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal and Man United all opening up their seasons with wins. Chelsea was the lone “BIG 6” team that did not win as they fell to a 4-0 defeat at Old Trafford to the Red Devils. Meanwhile newly promoted teams did not fare so well asNorwich City, and Aston Villa all were defeated in their opening fixtures, and Sheffield United tied to the Cherries of Bournemouth 1-1. However it was VAR that stole the headlines of the weekend.

Making its debut in the Premier League this year, it was used a whopping 42 times, overturning five decisions. The language for the VAR in the Premier League is stated as such to only be used for goalscoring moments, and to correct “obvious” errors. In many cases it got the calls right, and also stole rhythm from the games which was already known to be the case. It was in the Man City vs West Ham game where VAR received it’s harshest criticisms, specifically on the Jesus goal where Sterling was ruled offsides, and Aguero’s penalty that was saved but brought back due to infringement.

The system still isn’t perfect, but for the most part it gets the calls correct. The scenario in the City game where Sterling was ruled offsides was a scenario that will cause problems for VAR as the margin was SO slim that many would argue even the technology couldn’t prove the call right or wrong one way or another.

This year’s Premier League campaign should be more thrilling than the last. Whilst City are still the clear favorites, it feels like more than one squad can challenge them and prevent them from winning three straight titles.

What was your thoughts on the opening weekend and VAR’s impact? Share your opinions with us in the comment section below.

Fast Food has become as much of a culture norm in America as signing the Star Spangled Banner before a sporting event, or paying your taxes. It’s quick, it’s cheap, its tasty (for good or for ill), and they’re everywhere. Drive down any business highway and there’s a gas station, a fast food restaurant, and repeat, until you leave civilization.

Theres often debates on who is the best, who is the healthiest, what qualifies a restaurant to be a fast food restaurant, and so forth. The debates are never ending, nor are they ever settled. However, we figured we’d dive into the discussion by rating the Top 5 “In House Burgers” from the major fast food chains just to stir the proverbial pot. These are your traditional fast food drive in scenes that do not include the likes of a Five Guys or a Zinburger. We’re talking the old fashion greasy goodness, pull up, order, and go. With that said, here we go!

1. In and Out Burger – The Double Double

Not available nationwide, which is a crime, but none the less it holds the top spot. The burgers are the freshest, simplest, and most delicious in our opinion. They don’t overcomplicate things, and they do what they do best, best. If you’re ever on the west coast, In and Out is a must. After you try it for the first time, you’ll know why.

2. McDonalds – The Big Mac

Two words, Mac Sauce. It’s nothing complicated, its essentially a combo of ketchup, mayo, and some other ingredients that we probably don’t want to know, but boy is it good. Double patty, extra bread, the pickles, and the crinkly lettuce, are all there for the sole purpose of complementing the best sauce in the game. For that reason alone, the Big Mac is #2 on the list.

3. Burger King – The Whopper

The name is powerful. It commands the idea of “A LOT”. It’s a whopping burger! Big, juicy, flame broiled, and littered with toppings including mayo, The Whopper has been a classic for decades, but outside of its history, the value is really in the name. We like it, but we don’t love it, so it hits #3 on the list.

3. Wendy’s – The Classics

The Classic Single, Double, and Triple are Dave’s signature burgers on the menu. They’re good, but as the chain’s signature burger, it’s not their best burger. Where as McDonalds and Burger King’s top burgers are the Big Mac and Whopper respectively, we’d argue that Wendy’s is more known for other items on their menu (Baconator, Junior Bacon Cheeseburger, etc.) more so than the classic recipes. For that reason, we have it 4th on this list.

3. White Castle – The Traditional Slider

The smallest burger on the list by far, but that’s not why it comes in at 5th out of 5. While the slider is a quick grab, and can be consumed in one bite, the taste isn’t great, the buns are usually doused in grease, and it almost always takes forever when waiting on a dozen at a drive through. You want a good late night munch, White Castle is a great move, but if you can choose between the aforementioned, it comes in 5th place 10 out of 10 times.

Camila Cabello’s solo career is going pretty well since leaving Fifth Harmony almost 3 years ago. Her hit song “Senorita” with her ‘boyfriend’ Shawn Mendes has been, along with Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” the tune of summer 2019.  And she continues travel with the Mendes tour.

A year after Cabello left Fifth Harmony; the group went on hiatus to follow Camila to solo careers. They haven’t performed or recorded in almost two years. In a recent interview, when Cabella was asked why they’re not in contact said, “It’s not because there’s any animosity between us but rather the courses of our lives have drifted. But if I saw any of them at an awards show, I would say ‘hi’ and it would be totally cool. It feels like there’s been a reset just because of the amount of time that’s passed.” It would be interesting to hear if her former band members feel the same way. While Cabello even commented on her liking of former band member’s song “Love Lies” with Khalid, you have to wonder if she’s the only one of the former group that feels that everything “would be cool”

The buzz is palpable around the release of Disney’s new streaming platform Disney+.  Set to release November 12th, it is entering the market against well established players like Netflix and Amazon, which would not be an easy task for a newbie, but with Disney’s catalog, they will light it up immediately, even if their subscribers are limited to families with kids.

Early announcements about pricing for Disney+ suggest that it will come as a standalone, starting price for $6.99 and a bundled price of $12.99 that will include ESPN+ and Hulu. The standalone price for ESPN + is $4.99 while Hulu sits at $5.99. Combing the three services together under one price umbrella is a proper marketing strategy.

ESPN and Hulu have been at least partially owned by Disney for some time. Hulu became part of Disney after its acquisition of 21st Century Fox. The competition lines up as follows: Amazon Prime offers its streaming service bundled with Amazon shipping benefits for about $12.99 a month, Netflix offers its thousands of movies and original series for the same and now Disney + is matching them.  Disney’s advantage is its amazing catalog of classic movies and cartoons for kids and the movies from their other properties; Marvel, Touchstone Pictures and Lucasfilm.  No doubt, they will force an adjustment in the market.  To counter what is coming, Netflix is putting up $15 billion to finance original programming.  Take that Mickey.

Lots of movies for kids are about to be released. Here’s a short list of fun films to watch out for.

Angry Birds Movie 2 was just released on August 2nd. In the new version, our birds team in an uneasy alliance with pigs to fight a mysterious purple bird named Zeta. Together they struggle to avoid a new ice age from coming – apparently not having heard about global warming.

Playmobil: The Movie, is the first ever movie version of the Playmobil toy series It’s scheduled for release on August 9th.

Abominable, is coming out on August 11th. The movie follows a hero who protects a Yeti from a Yeti capturer.

Dora and the Lost City of Gold follows later on August 16th. In this adventure an older, high school Dora, goes on a mission to rescue her parents and uncover the mysteries of the lost city of Gold.

UglyDolls, a doll oriented musical, is coming on the same date as Dora, August 16th.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, is being released August 18th. This film is a sequel to Maleficent, which was about the villain from sleeping beauty.

A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon, is scheduled for the same day, August 18th. The film explores the interactions between sheep and extraterrestrials.

Coming in the fall on October 25th is The Adams Family.  The movie is an animated take on the Adams Family TV series.

Frozen 2, will be released in time for Thanksgiving on November 22nd.  Get your tickets now.

The final movie of the series: Star Wars, The Rise of Skywalker, will be released on December 19th.

On December 27th Playing with Fire, a film about a superintendent who babysits three children he saved from a fire, will be released.

Finally, ananimated spy movie starring Will Smith called Spies in Disguise, will be released on December 27th.

What a life. The reality for pop-star Ariana Grande is that any little public move stirs speculation, headlines, and debate. And it continued this week with a photo in her Instagram post that sent fans into a frenzy.

Having recently released a song called “Boyfriend” with artist, Mikey Foster, rumors are swirling that he is her new beau. Grande helped the rumor with an Instagram post featuring two photos promoting the new song.  In them she’s wearing a little white tutu that is very short with a black bra and black heels. In one of the photos she is resting gently on Foster’s leg.

Are these photos strictly professional or is there something more going on?  A quick scroll through her comments reveals a clear consensus. Fans are thinking the latter. Whether or not Adriana and Mikey are the new thing, Grande’s current profile commands this sort of attention, especially when it comes to her love life – lest we forget her engagement to Pete Davidson or the toxic ending to the Mac Miller saga. So, is it promotion or emotion? That’s the question for her rabid fans, a question that should be answered in short order. Stay tuned.
