Disney and Apple are two of the most powerful, creative companies in the world. Both combine art, design and technology with commerce to have had a dramatic influence on world culture and society.
It turns out that the two companies have had a relationship that over time, has been close and not so close. The details are revealed in “The Ride of a Lifetime: Lessons From 15 Years as CEO of the Walt Disney Company,” by Bob Iger that was recently excerpted in Vanity Fair.
According to Iger, former CEO Michael Eisner effectively ruined the company’s relationship with Steve Jobs by destroying Pixar’s partnership with Disney. Iger claims to have rebuilt Jobs’ confidence in Disney. He writes, “I believe that if Steve were still alive, we would have combined our companies, or at least discussed the possibility very seriously.”
Could you imagine a world where behemoths like Apple and Disney joined forces?!
