Ever wonder what it would be like to be directed by Martin Scorsese? You might be in luck.
Hollywood stars Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio, frequent collaborators with the celebrated director whose films include Taxi Driver and Wolf of Wall Street, took to Instagram Wednesday to announce an amazing opportunity for Scorsese fans. Anyone who donates to the “All-in Challenge,” a charitable initiative being spearheaded by De Niro and DiCaprio, will be entered to win a chance to play a walk-on role in the upcoming Scorsese film Killers of the Flower Moon, which stars both actors.
In a brief video posted to DiCaprio’s Instagram account, the two movie stars and longtime friends explained that the “All-in Challenge” supports three charities doing important work in the time of coronavirus: Meals on Wheels, No Kid Hungry, and America’s Food Fund, which was recently co-founded by DiCaprio “to help make sure every family in need gets access to food at this critical time.”
“If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be able to work with the great Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, and myself, this is your chance,” DiCaprio explained. “Robert and I are going to be starring in a new movie called Killers of the Flower Moon, directed by Martin Scorsese. We want to offer you a walk-on role, the opportunity to spend the day on the set with the three of us, and attend the premiere. To take part, please go to allinchallenge.com and donate whatever you can.”
Killers of the Flower Moon is based on David Grann’s historical book of the same name, which details the Osage Nation murders of the 1920s. Scorsese, whose films often balance dark themes and violence with his New York sense of humor, has teased that Flower Moon will be his first attempt at a western. Just this year, the Scorsese-directed mob drama The Irishman received ten Oscar nominations, including Best Picture.
