Last January China landed the first ever robotics mission to the far side of the moon. China’s Chang’e-4 mission has done eight full days of science work in this new territory. Days and nights last roughly two weeks and the nights are deadly cold. Despite difficult conditions the rover finished up its seventh workday on July 9th. The two robots took a two-week nap which started July 26th and ended on August 7th. After the workday of August 7th eight workdays had gone by. By then the rover had travelled a total of 890 feet. The far side of the moon has major differences from the side that we typically see and this mission is hoping to uncover reasons behind those differences. Beautiful photos of this new world have emerged from this inspiring trip.
This mission has historical significance because it is the first time that China has done something not yet attempted by other space powers. China wishes to become a leading space power like the United States and Russia. Now China has a space exploration accomplishment that no other country can claim for themselves. China is also beginning to build a new space station in 2020 with the goal of it being operational in 2022.
For many years artificial intelligence wasn’t producing many breakthroughs. However, in recent times AI has finally produced major success stories. AI has already changed the world and its impact won’t slow down anytime soon. AI is set to dramatically transform the global economy and to disrupt lifestyles around the world. Here’s a short list of ten major changes that are expected to come soon because of the AI revolution.
1. Increased Economic Productivity
AI machines are better at certain skills than humans and can get certain tasks done faster. This means that the productivity of labor, business and entire countries is expected to increase with the AI revolution. Given the slow growth rates of major countries in recent years, this is good news.
2. Increased Unemployment and Declining Pay
Because AI is set to automate certain skills, companies are expected to increasingly automate many positions leaving many workers with less work, less pay or even full unemployment.
3. More Time for what Humans are Good At
AI is expected to give humans more time for what we are good at; social leadership and creative skills are not expected to be automated. AI should free up our time for these types of skills.
4. Higher Levels of Inequality
There are significant gaps between different nations, companies and industries when it comes to AI readiness. Companies are expected to make a lot more money while hiring and paying workers less. All of these factors are expected to increase economic inequality between individuals and between countries.
5. Increased Predictive Maintenance
AI is good at making predictions. This means that tasks like medical diagnostics will increasingly be done by AI, while doctors will have more time for human interactions with patients.
6. Increased AI Related Jobs
More jobs than ever before will be using AI. For many occupations, only certain tasks will be automated. So, if you’re trying to prepare for the coming years of career life, you should start working together with AI.
7. More Partially Automated Occupations
According to Mckinsey & Co. research, about 30 percent of activities in 60 percent of all occupations could be automated; in contrast, in 5 percent of occupations nearly all activities are automatable. This means that working hours might be fewer with remaining hours being spent collaborating with AI.
8. Increased Security
AI drones will increasingly help us deal with emergency situations by delivering care packages or emergency responses to those in need.
9. Better Healthcare
AI is already better than human doctors at diagnosing certain illnesses; this means that AI should set up humanity for a healthier future.
10. Routine Jobs and Data Maximization Jobs are expected to be Automated
AI is good at routine tasks with stable and predictable environments. It is also good at using data for maximizing results. Jobs involving these tasks are expected to be automated soon.
America has been known as a melting pot because of its diverse mixture of people. Many cultures and regions bring many food varieties. In spite of the incredible selection available to Americans from different cultures, American cuisine has withstood the test of time. Here are some of the favorites.
1. The Burger
2. Hot Dogs
3. Mac and Cheese
5. Chicken and Waffles
8. Chocolate Chip Cookies
Note our rule: if it’s been in the US for more than a century, it qualities as American cuisine i.e. Hot Dogs are from Germany and Pizza is from Italy.
The first hot dog is believed to have been sold from push cart in New York City in the 1860s and Charles Feltman, a German immigrant, is credited with opening the first hot dog stand in Coney Island in 1870.
The first pizza restaurant was Lombardi’s on Mott Street in New York City in 1905. It’s still there. You’ll know it by the line out the door and coal-fired ovens, which are grandfathered in-spite of the New York City building code that prohibits them. By the way, pizza isn’t number ten…it’s got to be at least number 3 or 4.

3. Glitch Lab
If you like editing photos, this app is for you. It allows you to bring more life to your favorite images by editing with hundreds of different features.
Staying hydrated in the summer is a key to good health and there may be no better way to remember to stay hydrated than by using the this app. Kwench calculates your body’s water intake based on key features such as weight, height, gender and more. 5. Face Pause
The feature is in the name. When you are watching a video on your phone and you turn away, Face Pause pauses your video until you look back. It operates in the background of apps like YouTube, Netflix or Amazon Video by using the front facing camera to determine whether or not you are looking.
It’s been a quiet summer for Selena Gomez or so it seems. No new music, not much action on social media, but apparently she has been working on a new project under the radar. It has been reported by Women’s Wear Daily that Gomez has filed a trademark through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for the name “Selena Gomez”. While she hasn’t promoted anything new or said anything about the trademark, the application suggests she’s up to something.
And that something appears to be a cosmetics line. The trademark was filed for perfumes, coognes, aftershaves, cosmetics, skin and hair care, nail products, essential oils, soaps, body lotions, fragrances, and more! Sounds like a whole “Selena Gomez” beauty and self care line is in the works, though she has yet to comment on the subject. We’ll have wait.
With some new music reported to be on the way this fall, and now a possible announcement of a new line of cosmetic products looming, Ms. Gomez’s quiet summer may not have been as quiet as it appeared.
Justin Bieber and his supermodel wife Hailey Bieber had a secret wedding ceremony back in September of 2018 to officially get hitched. Now they want to have an actual wedding ceremony, but they plan to keep it small. The couple are looking at fall dates, and the location still has not been decided upon by the power couple. While we expect the wedding to be of the smaller variety, it is hard to know how small is small for a couple of their pedigree. Those details should unfold in the coming weeks.
Bieber has been focusing on his mental health over the last few months and on being the best father and husband he can be. He has not had a new album in a few years but recently just dropped a new song with Ed Sheeran called “Love Yourself”. The title of the song certainly fits in line with Bieber’s new focus on mental health. For the Biebers, having a second wedding should be no big deal, while the normal couple would be hurting just to pay for one!
We’ll keep monitoring the unfolding situation with the Bieber Wedding “take two”. Check back in for more updates.
Singer Bebe Rexha posted on Instagram and Twitter that she is being called “too old to be sexy”. In a rather, sexy, picture on her instagram that shows her in her bra and undies with a black and white filter, she goes on to share the story of a Male Exec saying she was too old to be posting sexy pictures. The post was rather long and direct and touched on her current age (almost 30) and how she is tired of women who get older being labeled as such.
Fans naturally showed their support to the social media posts, popping in with positive comments and women empowerment dialogue. Clearly Bebe is trying to do the same with her recent comments. In one of the captions she wrote “Empower women to love their bodies instead of making girls and women feel less by their size”. Age truly is only a number, and it is how you feel that is most important. There is no doubt Rexha is feeling good about turning 30 and does not care what people think about her age in regards to her brand and image.
She closed her post by saying. “TRUST ME, I’m a much better lover than I was 10 years ago.”
Looking to make a couple extra bucks for a family vacation, pay the bills, or having some extra gas money? Well, you could look into selling some old VHS tapes. Yup, thats right, VHS tapes have carved out a little market for themselves in the online trading world of eBay, and you will be shocked for how much some of these tapes are going for.
Apparently out of Australia a report stated that a 1999 Special Edition copy of Mulan in mint condition was sold for over $20,000! A set of seven Disney classics, Black Diamond edition, which included Bambi and Aladdin sold for $18,000. A 1990 VHS of the Little Mermaid sold for $15,000 and 1992 version of Beauty and the Beast Black Diamond edition sold for $10 G’s. New data has revealed that almost 250,000 VHS tapes have been sold online over the last year, and over $3 million dollars has been spent on VHS tapes in that time.
Why the sudden spike in value and demand for these classic films. Well for starters, Disney has been cranking out remakes of their old movies like Fords on an assembly line. This alone has raised the value of older tapes that will never be produced again in the VHS versions like the originals. While very few people these days even own a VHS player, that shouldn’t stop you from trying to make a couple extra bucks selling the tapes online.
Companies such as Comcast, Warner Media and Walt Disney are trying to compete with Netflix in their video streaming services. In order to do this, they are looking at the rights to use Seinfeld, a hugely famous retired comedy show which is has its streaming rights up for sale again. Seinfeld has been available for streaming on Hulu since 2015. Retired shows with well-established fame are heavily competed over between streaming companies; these shows include not only Seinfeld, but also the Office and Friends. Netflix has given much trouble to the traditional TV industry by offering a streaming alternative to the traditional method of distribution.
Hulu’s ownership of streaming rights to Seinfeld ends in 2021. Sony Pictures Television handles the distribution of streaming rights to Seinfeld. The company is already getting calls about these rights. The bidding process for the Seinfeld streaming rights is expected to begin in the next few weeks. Netflix has already been beat by competition for streaming rights for the Office and Friends. NBCUniversal bought streaming rights for the Office for the next five years for $500 million. Warner Media paid $425 million for five years of streaming rights over Friends. The future will show how much profit these streaming rights will generate for these massive companies.
