Facebook and Twitter have confirmed that millions of their users may have had their personal information compromised because of security breaches in third party apps.
On Monday, Twitter announced a problem with the app OneAudience, which allowed access to private data through social media permissions. In addition, approximately 9.5 million Facebook users also may have been compromised by the same app as well as one from MobiBurn.
Facebook claims to have removed the offending apps and OneAudience announced it was suspending operations.
In a world of social media, it is increasingly difficult to have a connected social life without risk.
