What it’s like to spend a day in Positano, Italy

Positano is a town located on the Amalfi Coast that was the backdrop for the movie “Under the Tuscan Sun.” It remains a popular tourist destination today. The buildings are built on a cliff, so more likely than not, wherever you’re staying will offer breathtaking views of the ocean and surrounding area. If you do decide to visit Positano, here’s what an average day might look like.

Waking Up

Every morning, you wake up to the sound of the ocean. If you’re an early riser, you might get to enjoy an hour or so alone with the sea and the cliffs before the world wakes up. Take a dip in the pool or sip your coffee out on the balcony. Working remotely? You could take the mornings to do work outside and the afternoons to be a tourist.

Positano has something for everyone. Love water sports? Go snorkeling, diving, paddleboarding or sailing along the coast. There are boat cruise experiences that will take you down the Amalfi coast in style, complete with champagne and your own personal tour guide for a price. Not into water stuff, but love archeology? Head to Pompeii or Herculaneum to explore the ruins with an archeologist.

Art and Culture

After your excursion, you can end your day by attending a cooking or baking class taught by one of the locals. Learn about traditional dishes and experience a true farm to table experience. La Masseria is a local farm that lets you work and share food with the owners. You’ll get to see what it is like to not only make your own meal, but pick the fruits and vegetables that go into it.

A Glass of Wine to End the Day

End the night with a glass of wine while you reflect on your day. After all, you can’t do Southern Italy without at least trying the local wine.
